This project mission is to develop a local community writers group into the first Writers' Hub in north Belfast. Under the guidance of Aoibh Johnson (writer, poet, actor, playwright, dramatist and activist), members of the local community will develop into writers, poets, and spoken word performers.

The Duncairn is located in an area ranked in the top 10 on the Noble scale for social deprivation. The local community suffers from a chronic lack of support, especially with regards to access to the arts. The idea of a Writing Hub has emerged from the community's desire. Local participants to Aoibh's Creative Writing Course expressed the need to keep engaging with writing for their own wellbeing. This project is both community-led and co-created.

This project offers the opportunity to - build a diverse and self-led community of creatives designed to support each other in creative exploration. - provide free professional guidance by an artist actively working within the arts sector at international level. - give local people space to express themselves, share stories and explore ideas. - share work in a safe and inspiring environment, learn from one another and expand on participants' identity as writers, poets and creatives.
