Our new creative engagement programme will provide opportunities for dancers in the later stages of professional training and the early stages of their careers. Our aim is for these opportunities to be deep, impactful and immersive and they will benefit approx. 40–50 participants a year.

Situation
For any graduating dance student, the first steps in gaining their first professional experience are very important, but this is more difficult than ever. Devastating public cuts to dance and the performing arts, plus the pandemic, have meant the closure of prominent dance companies in recent times leading to fewer opportunities for training and paid vocational routes. The majority of dancers are struggling to make a living through their dance practice alone.
Solution
Our new programme focuses on performance, training, and the chance to work closely with Shobana Jeyasingh CBE. Shobana has 40 years of professional experience in her highly lauded interdisciplinary practice, combining art forms such as music, design, and film. Coupled with her passion for intellectual enquiry, and belief in the power of dance to stimulate the mind as well as the body, her established practice has already supported the development of many emerging dancers.
