    Situation

For children and their families who experience economic challenges, amid the worsening cost of living crisis, the long school summer holidays which brings an end to term-time support, can mean limited access to opportunities, a stretch on finances to cover the essentials, isolation, higher levels of anxiety and food insecurity that can lead to a decline in health and well-being and children falling behind in their learning.

    Solution

Firstsite will bring families together to reduce their isolation, in our award-winning gallery to provide access to day-long creative and physical activities, and a hot nutritious lunch, on weekdays throughout the school summer holiday of 2024. The activities will be led by artists and will be based around the NHS’s 5 ways to wellbeing – connection, being active, learning new skills, giving to others, paying attention to the present.
