    Situation

There are very limited opportunities for PWLD to take part in regular creative and physical activities; particularly those which carry on over the long-term and can provide the basis to develop key skills and personal attributes at a pace that suits each individual. PWLD also face much higher levels of social isolation than the general population, and have few opportunities to undertake activities which enable them to fully explore their potential.

    Solution

We provide 16 weekly classes – in person, and online – which enable PWLD from age 3 upwards to take part in regular creative and physical activity. Magpie Dance have been working in South London for close to 40 years, with 50% of our participants dancing with us for 10+ years; providing a long-term provision for participants. Classes support creative and physical development, along with key personal outcomes including reduced social isolation and improved communication.
