We want to empower communities to take meaningful action for nature on their doorsteps. We are raising money to work directly with communities – providing training, sharing our knowledge, tools and expertise to make spaces that people are proud of; havens for both wildlife and social connection.

Situation
The northeast has disproportionate health inequalities compared to the rest of the country, worsened by the loss of nature in urban areas. We are in the middle of a climate emergency that is driving nature’s decline. We know 94% of Britons want to see more biodiversity where they live, but there are inequalities in access to greenspace and nature. Evidence shows that spending time in nature and taking action with your community benefits people’s mental and physical health.
Solution
Nextdoor Nature responds to communities’ needs for improving nature where they live. By consulting local groups, we identify motivations, skills gaps and offer support. We empower communities with skills, training and resources to develop their own meaningful community-led projects that aid nature’s recovery and boost biodiversity as well as people's health and wellbeing. Via accessible events and activities, we will connect people with nature and inspire them to take action.
