This campaign has now closed

We are fundraising for creative projects in 2024 which bring people - young and old - from Bristol’s least engaged communities together to take part in and experience live music and active music-making with the aim of inspiring joy and improving wellbeing and social connection.

    Situation

There are eight wards in Bristol that together represent 25% of the city’s total population. Less than 20% of people living here engage with cultural activity at least once a month. Six of the eight wards also record high or med/high deprivation in local authority data. We know that engaging with culture is a key ingredient to a good quality of life; it has significant positive effects on mental and physical wellbeing, social connectivity, sense of belonging and aspiration.

    Solution

Mood Music connects with these communities, inviting people of all ages to take part in specially designed easy-to-access live music experiences. The project combines the best of three recent initiatives - MiniBeats (a live music discovery workshop for young children); the Community Ticket Club (a bespoke offer with free tickets); and Sing for Happiness (large-scale choir for wellbeing) - into one project that addresses barriers to taking part including cost, trust, relevance and location.
