The Bush Young Company helps young people in an area of high social deprivation develop confidence, learn new skills, build community, claim a place in the arts and perform on our main house stage. We combat shrinking and unequal access to the arts by being free and open to all.

Young people in Shepherd’s Bush are affected by high levels of socio-economic inequality, a high risk of social exclusion, and in many cases non-existent provision of arts in their schools. We give them a creative outlet and access to quality theatre that represents, champions and uplifts them. Our mission is to break down barriers, tackle the inequality in our community and ensure all young people have free spaces to develop, learn, connect and perform.

Through free weekly workshops, training opportunities, community, a safe place, and performance opportunities in a professional-quality theatre production, our Bush Young Company transforms lives. The BYC increases confidence, boosts wellbeing and develops creative and life skills. Our BYC is a place to belong and to grow, and we demonstrate this by putting their shows in our main programme, investing to the same level as our professional productions - because young people deserve to be heard.
