We are a Birmingham based music charity who deliver free creative music making workshops for young people aged 8-18. Across 25 years we have given thousands of young people the opportunity to compose and perform their own music with professional concert musicians in a safe, encouraging environment.

Many young people today have limited access to music education. Opportunities in school have been significantly reduced and are usually focused on playing an instrument or singing. Many enriching opportunities outside school are available only to those who can afford them. In these instances, there is often little opportunity for young people to experiment with sound and musical ideas to create new music in a collaborative, supportive setting with professional composers and musicians.

We support young people who want to compose by bringing them together with professional musicians and composers. We do this through a progressive series of free workshops held throughout the year in central Birmingham: Music Maze, BCMG Young Composers and Creative Composing Lab. We are committed to making these opportunities as accessible as possible, by making them free, open to all levels of experience and working closely with parents and children to respond to their individual needs.
