    Situation

Ballet lacks diversity in its workforce and leadership, with structural barriers such as the cost of ballet training, the perception of a certain body aesthetic required and a lack of relatable role models creating inequality of opportunity. To drive lasting change, we are actively involved with the ballet schools which recruit and teach children at the earliest stages and invest in the talent pipeline.

    Solution

We address inequalities around diversity by providing a high-quality, early stage, ballet training programme for children aged 8-12 years from traditionally underrepresented groups, including those from African Diaspora, Caribbean, South Asian and South East Asian backgrounds. Ballet Futures: The Pipeline Project directly removes barriers around participation by subsidising the cost of training and providing access to leading role models.
