The overproduction and consumption of single-use plastic is creating a global environmental and humanitarian crisis. Over 150 million tonnes of plastic have accumulated in the world’s oceans as a result, and single-use packaging from food and drink items make up over half of all litter found in our rivers and on our beaches! 80% of plastic pollution travels via our rivers, affecting river communities and wildlife along the way. It's time to stem the flow for the sake of our rivers and oceans!
The plastic problem is complicated, but the solutions don’t have to be. Our incredible Refill Communities are the beating heart of our campaign and are driving change on the ground up and down the UK. We’re connecting local communities with the nature on their doorsteps, highlighting the impact of single-use plastic pollution at local level and presenting solutions and ways for individuals to take action in their communities.
