Cycling is a crucial life skill which helps improve physical and mental health and wellbeing. We seek funding for four partner charities who support people in under-represented groups to overcome barriers to cycling with bike loans and donations, cycle training and bike maintenance skills.

    Situation

    As the national cycling organisation, Cycling Scotland supports and delivers funding to communities whose adult and children stakeholders experience one or multiple barriers to Cycling. Lack of access to bikes Lack of access to non-standard cycles for those with disabilities Fear of traffic Lack of confidence Cost of maintaining a bike Ability to carry-out roadside repairs Partner organisations are heavily reliant on external funding to deliver their programmes in under-represented communities

    Solution

    We will work with 4 partner organisations (Camglen Bike Town, Common Wheel, Outfit Moray, Volunteering Hebrides) with funds towards the continuation of proven programmes. - Free bike and e-bike loans to people where cost is a barrier in the Outer Hebrides - 10-week "Build Your Own Bike" courses, developing skills and confidence in Glasgow - Free bike maintenance (Dr Bike) in under-represented communities in South Lanarkshire - Cycle training to people with additional support needs in Moray
