Help us reach more audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) in our community. 'Fire Songs' is a magical, sensory production, created by Frozen Light, bringing PMLD audiences together with a choir of volunteers to promote understanding and shared experiences.

Situation
We want to dismantle the barriers faced by PMLD audiences that would make live performance more welcoming, inclusive and accessible. These barriers uphold the systemic loneliness & isolation felt by individuals and their carers as they miss out on the impact of engaging with live art. There are limited opportunities to experience high quality, live performance within their local communities and this prevents a sense of belonging to the wider community.
Solution
We will work with Frozen Light, in partnership with KX Summer Sounds, to bring 'Fire Songs' to Kings Place in 2024 for 6 performances specifically created for arts festivals. Working with a local community choir and Frozen Light actors/musicians, 'Fire Songs' will present an immersive, sensory sound experience for PMLD audiences and their carers. We will offer use of our accessible spaces and staffing resources throughout its development to stage a professional production in our venue.
