Arts Taunton have directed Taunton Youth Culture and Arts (TYCA) Festival for the past 5 years. We provide opportunities for young people (5-25) to engage with the arts from the point of first engagement right through to professional practice.

Engaging in the arts has been proven to benefit young people’s mental health, reducing anxiety and increasing self-confidence. Unfortunately arts opportunities are distributed unevenly. TYCA Festival works to identify and remove engagement barriers including Finance - Entry fees excluding many young people. Transport - Inaccessible locations excluding those without access to transport. Demographic barriers - There remain young people in Taunton today who tell us “art isn’t for people like me”.
We create free, accessible engagement opportunities in schools, youth centres, and other locations. We identify those who would benefit the most and tailor our offer to meet young people where they are at. In 2023 we supported 2595 young people and will surpass that this year with your help. Every penny raised will be spent directly on frontline youth arts engagement in the Taunton area. Everyone who donates £10 or more will receive a free ticket to our amazing fundraising event on May 10th!
