    Situation

Through our partners at GAVO, Mind, ABUHB and local authority, we have identified that accessing provision as a person struggling with poor wellbeing can be intimidating. Even just asking someone for help when you have anxiety or depression can be too hard. Approaching someone who is a stranger, one-on-one can be too much. Social stigma can cause some not to reach out at all. The problem we are addressing is that the current pathways to wellbeing support in Gwent do not suit everyone.

    Solution

Through activities like craft & creative writing, people can meet each other through a shared interest. This provides a starting point for the building of relationships. It also provides a chance to work on things like self-expression, decision-making, confidence & motivation. These, together with dedicated art leaders who are knowledgeable & trained on local provision, mean that participants will build trust & rapport, supporting each other to grow, connect and share through their creations.
