We are seeking to secure the future of the rare Dainty Damselfly (c90% of the UK population breed here) and make the area better for wildlife and for people by digging more ponds, building up accessible paths, creating an education area and extending the hedgerow.

The Dainty Damselfly is a very rare insect in the UK. The one pond on this field which we have just purchased holds c90% of the UK population. The area is very wet in winter which makes access very difficult. The hedgerow is very thin and not very diverse. Our education team need a space in nature to work in with young people.

We will provide more pools to encourage the population growth of the Dainty Damselfly and to ensure that they have somewhere close by to go to if anything were to happen to their current pool. We will be building up and widening the paths to make the area more accessible to all especially those with mobility issues. We intend to plant more native trees of a wider variety including fruiting and nectar producing varieties to encourage more insects and birds.
