We want to improve the lives of children from Gloucester who experience multiple intersecting barriers to participating in society. The children we currently work with sit in the highest 10% of deprivation on the national indices and over half are eligible for Free School Meals and suffer from low self esteem and poor confidence. Youth theatres can offer children a vital space to express themselves, build confidence but also be safe and warm.

We will set up a new after school youth theatre in Barton and Tredworth for 7-12 year olds. The classes will run every week and will be free for children who need it. The supportive, welcoming atmosphere of weekly classes will provide the opportunity for managing difficult emotions, building relationships and developing healthy coping skills. Our weekly activity has seen previously a 24% increase in both mood and energy (based on the Warwick Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing scale) over 8 weeks.
