GALA North Shields 2024 will bring together over 200 participants, including 70 primary school children, to create and perform a spectacular concert led by Tête à Tête with Royal Northern Sinfonia at the Parks Leisure Centre, North Shields.

Situation
The lack of inclusion in UK opera and how to widen the voices that will solve this. Our work over the last few years shows the appetite for opera is huge across our North Shields communities but there’s a lack of opera being produced in the immediate area; as such these voices will be excluded from taking part in any change in the sector. We will rectify this.
Solution
We will meet the demand from our North Shields community to bring together 200 local people to collaborate with Tête à Tête and Royal Northern Sinfonia in a high profile participatory project to show what contribution our community in the region can make to the national landscape of opera in the UK, whilst having a great time making opera.
