    Situation

Growing up in a beautiful rural area like Westmorland may seem idyllic to many, but for significant numbers of young people it can be a lonely and alienating experience. The teenage years are difficult to navigate for most young people, but for many in rural areas, particularly the disadvantaged and the vulnerable, these challenges can be magnified further by the lack of suitable youth facilities/activities, lack of diversity and the challenges of meeting friends outside school due to poor transport.

    Solution

With your support, we will create a new term-time programme called Young Creatives: Music Makers where young people aged 11- 16 years learn to become a young music producer and participate in electronic music, a dynamic and immersive genre that connects with the lives and experiences of young people. Affordable, weekly sessions will give young people the skills to compose, record and play their own tracks. Thereby they can express their creativity, share ideas, boost self-confidence and work collaboratively.
