Up to 75% of Britain's hedgehog populations have been lost in the last 20 years. The SWCC Hedgehog Hospital addresses the plight of sick, injured, and orphaned hedgehogs, providing essential medical treatment and rehabilitation. With over 5000 admissions since 2012, the hospital tackles the decline of hedgehog populations by offering a safe place for recovery and supporting successful release back into the wild. External funding is crucial to sustain these operations.

Through skilled staff, volunteers, and collaborations with Shepreth Wildlife Park, the hospital provides vital medical treatment, rehabilitation, and release into suitable habitats. Education initiatives raise awareness, advocating wildlife-friendly practices. The hospital's strategic release site selection preserves hedgehog habitats. By prioritising core funding, the charity ensures sustained operations, emphasising the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of hedgehogs.
