Ancient trees, seeped in history, are hotspots for biodiversity. They are also key for carbon storage, helping to tackle climate change. However, they face many challenges, such as competition from fast growing, invasive species, climate change and disease, all jeopardising the wildlife that depends on them. There is also a reported lack of skilled, experienced nature and conservation professionals. These professionals are key to ensuring wildlife is protected for current and future generations.

Through a range of conservation practices, we aim to protect ancient trees for generations to come. We will carry out a range of woodland management practices, specifically targeted at protecting ancient trees. Additionally, our conservation trainee program will equip our trainees with the skills needed to protect a variety of habitats, including ancient trees. They will gain highly valuable experience in a range of conservation techniques, from dormouse monitoring to tree surveying.
