We are passionate about ensuring that everybody has access to the expert care they need. This includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists. These Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), along with Parkinson’s Nurse Specialists work as an integrated team so that people with Parkinson’s can receive the right care from the right expert professionals at the right time. We urgently need to boost the number of these professionals to ensure the right support is there
By supercharging our tried and tested pump priming model which funds new posts for 2 years our ambition is to close the health professional workforce gap over the next 10 years. We are aiming to fund at least 5 new Allied Health Professional posts from this year to deliver immediate benefits to people with Parkinson’s. It is not enough just to invest in new posts. We also need to attract strong candidates to apply for the posts, up skill existing health professionals and develop new resources
