SOS Africa has just launched a Primary School Classroom Fundraising Appeal. This exciting project, which involves the purchase of 2 classrooms, will provide high quality pre-primary education to 60 children from culturally diverse disadvantaged communities each year, taught in Afrikaans or English.

    Situation

High quality pre-primary education is not currently available to children from many disadvantaged communities in the Grabouw area. This is especially the case for children who do not speak Afrikaans as a first language. As a consequence, underprivileged children from minority communities have no access to good education and remain impoverished.

    Solution

The pre-primary education provided by the new classrooms will enable children to join the school system at a younger age, learn, socialise and grow in confidence before officially starting their primary school years. By introducing English language teaching to pupils from the age of 6 makes the school accessible to children from a wide range of cultural heritages. SOS Africa's Scholarship Scheme will also ensure that disadvantaged children will also benefit from this initiative.
