WellBoring is totally volunteer-led. We bore new wells and refurbish dead wells in Kenya, The Gambia and elsewhere - plus some solar wells where economically viable. We have provided over 375 wells in 12 years - our target is 1,000 wells by 2025 - clean water for 1 million people. WATER IS LIFE!

We provide clean water where none exists, mostly in Primary Schools. Absenteeism is a big problem with kids suffering from illness (sometimes death) - or collecting water from afar. Absenteeism reduces from 26% to 3%, enrollment goes up, achievement rises and more girls get educated (often the first to be sent to collect water. Families and the local community all benefit when clean water is available.

We bore shallow wells (40-80m)and fit a basic handpump. Simple, problem-free and effective - and we always have a maintenance program. We also rescue wells that have been abandoned by others, bringing them back to life. We have started to instal solar pumps where the cost/benefit is obvious. New wells cost around £5,500 plus Gift Aid, with refurbished wells around £1,500. With around 1,000 beneficiaries per well and wells lasting over 20 years, the cost per person per year is pennies! WOW!
