Statistics show that Domestic violence/abuse rises during the Christmas festive season; with the closure of agencies, community groups, and resources, the lives and well-being of vulnerable women, children, and young people will be severely disrupted, and ongoing problems will ensue.

Situation
MDVS aims to ensure services are in place for the target beneficiaries at a critical time. Our work focuses on prevention and supporting the needs of those in crisis before problems escalate. Women, children, and young people fleeing domestic violence must be supported. Our city has an emergency accommodation crisis, and domestic violence has been cited as a leading cause of homelessness. Our target beneficiaries need early crisis intervention to prevent suffering, hardship, and homelessness.
Solution
MDVS aims to provide early help at a critical time to enable women, children, and young people to access local and national emergency support through new and existing networks and partnerships. We aim to provide practical, emotional, and generic support to reduce fear, isolation, and hardship. MDVS has a highly skilled, empathic, dedicated team of staff who will advocate and ensure community resources and other layers of support are available to meet the needs of the beneficiaries.
