Oswestry and Borders Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry, so we provide emergency food and support to people in crisis.

Situation
1 in 7 people in the UK can't afford the essentials and are facing real poverty and hunger. Last year our charity gave out 61 tonnes of food. The current cost of living crisis means this need is only going to get worse. In our area alone we have seen a 37% increase in people being referred to the foodbank for food parcels to help them survive. This is not acceptable, nor is it sustainable long-term. We are campaigning for better support structures for people so they no longer rely on us.
Solution
Oswestry and Borders Foodbank works to ensure that no individual or family goes without the essentials. We provide three day & seven day nutritionally balanced food parcels, whilst recognising that ending hunger is about more than food. We partner with other agencies to provide compassionate, practical support to people in crisis to tackle the root causes that lock people into poverty and build people’s resilience so they are less likely to need a food bank in the future.
