The Anti-Destitution Project helps destitute refused asylum seekers in Nottinghamshire with immediate needs. Our team creates a warm and welcoming space during stressful and difficult times, where vulnerable clients can access groceries, toiletries, and a hot meal from our Community Café.

    Situation

The Anti-Destitution Project project works with some of the most vulnerable of our clients, who have no recourse to public funds. The cost of living crisis has had a strong impact on their ability to buy food and essential items. We receive donations of non-perishable food from the local community, but as the cost of living has soared, donations diminished. This means we have to buy more groceries for the food bank to distribute to destitute asylum seekers.

    Solution

The Anti-Destitution Project provides basic services that seek to relieve some of the physical and mental stress. Clients come to NNRF on a Friday when they can receive advice and support. We provide a warm, welcoming and inclusive space for them to relax. Clients can access the Food Bank, which includes a selection of groceries, toiletries and a hot meal from our Community Café. We receive regular donations of non-perishable items from the community, but we also buy fresh vegetables, meats etc.
