Faced with disease outbreaks, increased displacement due to conflict and a climate crisis, 3 in 4 people in South Sudan need urgent humanitarian assistance today. In the wake of rising costs globally and a spiralling national economy, 1.4 million children under 5 are severely malnourished. According to the UN index South Sudan is recorded as the most at-risk country. The national health system cannot cope with meet the immense needs of the vulnerable population. That's where Medair comes in.
Solution
Medair works responsively, in remote and hard to reach areas across all 10 states of South Sudan. Our emergency response team is deployed rapidly after disease outbreaks (e.g. cholera, measles), natural disasters (e.g. droughts, floods) or conflict-related displacement - in the last year mobilising 28 times. By plane, boat, or foot we reach the most vulnerable - children under five, pregnant and breastfeeding women - delivering lifesaving emergency healthcare, nutrition and WASH interventions.
