    Situation

Environmental issues are of increasing concern and the younger generations need to be aware of the challenges faced if action is not considered. There is also a deficit in skilled workers entering the environmental sectors, creating challenges for housing organisations to meet their net zero targets within the required timeframe.

    Solution

The plan is to build an all-weather outdoor education barn, creating new opportunities for learning about the environment by creating dedicated, environmentally-focussed sessions that also utilise the biodiversity at Trafford Hall. Young people will be involved in the building of the barn and learn construction skills. They will also be involved in green skills training to provide an introduction and opportunity for future study and employment within this increasingly important sector.
