Schoolchildren in rural Uganda spend hours fetching water from unsafe sources up to 2 km away. This affects their studies and waterborne disease is widespread, costing families unwelcome medical expense. We aim to install 4 roof rainwater harvesting tanks at a school to provide year-round water.

The school is in dire need of water facilities. It does not have any functional water facility and children have to walk up to 2 km each day to fetch water. This is time that could be spent in the classroom, getting an education, improving life skills and hope of a better future. Girls in particular are affected by lack of clean water and sanitation at school, and are often absent on many days in each school year.

We will work with the local partner in Uganda to construct 4 roof rainwater harvesting tanks at the school. This will provide year-round access to clean water for drinking, washing and cooking.
