Children and young people living in poverty are disproportionately affected by epilepsy. These children can struggle to get the support they need. Help us to reach these communities, amplify their voices and ensure they can access better treatment, help and support.

Childhood epilepsy is frightening, isolating and a misunderstood condition. The highest rates of epilepsy diagnoses are in the most deprived 20% of the population. It impacts learning, behaviour, emotions and relationships and can affect children and young people every day, in all areas of life. Epilepsy disproportionately affects children and young people living in poverty and deprived communities. They are less likely to be heard and face difficulties accessing services they are entitled to.

We will improve access to support for young people with epilepsy in deprived communities, providing trusted, relevant information and support. We will better engage with children living in poverty, working in partnership with schools and the NHS. Donations will enable recruitment of young people from deprived backgrounds onto our Youth Voice Network. Funds raised will also help those children with epilepsy most in need to access direct support through our Youth Support Coordinators.
