MMN are seeking to raise funds to add a maternity wing to Berakhah Medical Centre in Uganda. This will allow women living in poverty to receive quality maternal care, and be able to give birth in a hospital rather than at home putting their baby at risk.

Any women needing specialised maternal care need to be transported to a government hospital 25km away, putting the mother and baby at extreme risk. With poor transport and road conditions, as well as the nature of service delivery in the hospital, this can raise more complications or lead to the death of mother and child.

The addition of a maternity wing to the medical centre would allow them to improve access to specialised maternity care for mothers as well as perform C-sections and other surgeries. Reduce time and distance the women must travel to get help once diagnosed with a complication that requires an operation. Reduce chances of other complications to mother and child due to delays such as disability and possible death of mother and/or child.
