We want to welcome and support a more diverse body of accomplished and confident dancers to enter the dance industry. This programme provides pathways for a wider range of young people to engage with dance and to access the recreational and vocational training offered by Central School of Ballet.

Central recognises that some individuals and communities face obstacles and experience disadvantage. We are committed to addressing the problem of under-representation in ballet and Higher Education while also championing broad engagement with the joys of dance. We do this through our outreach activities, diverse and personalised programmes and by acting as a local hub for dance activity in Southwark. We aim to provide pathways for individuals to explore and develop their potential as dancers.

Central will build on its existing programmes to create a wider range of pathways and gateways into dance, providing practical learning and engagement opportunities for early years to post 16, to raise skills and attainment. It will address the challenges and barriers faced by some of our audiences - supporting access and transition through providing pathways and targeted relevant and intensive outreach to ensure that support gets to those individuals and communities that need it most.
