Finding out that you or someone you are close to has a life-limiting illness can have a huge impact. Deborah had a diagnosis of cancer and was struggling to come to terms with her illness. Her mental health was severely impacted, leaving her feeling vulnerable and alone, and she felt as if she couldn’t have a moment ‘away’ from her illness.

At Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, our Family Support and Bereavement service provides people like Deborah and her family with a safe space where they can be at ease and comfortable to be themselves. They can talk through their difficulties one to one with a counsellor, a support worker or as part of a group. Over time, they can develop strategies to cope, gain confidence in themselves, and discover ways to express their worries and talk to loved ones.
