PCR recently launched a new online patient resource called the infopool, providing accessible and culturally representative information about prostate cancer. We are requesting funding in support of our outreach programme, to ensure that every patient who needs the infopool can access it.

    Situation

Prostate cancer (PC) disproportionately affects those experiencing health inequalities, including Black men and those with low health literacy. Many people in these groups struggle to use the information they receive following a diagnosis, resulting in treatment regret and poor health outcomes. The infopool was created to solve this problem, however we cannot achieve our intended impact without widespread outreach and increased awareness of the resource within the PC community.

    Solution

Our 2022 Christmas Challenge helped us to launch the infopool, providing patients with clear information and video stories from men who have been in similar situations. Now, we want to increase our impact by scaling up our outreach programme to reach more people affected by prostate cancer. We will increase our spend on activities we know to be affective, through digital advertising, workshops for BAME patient groups, and distribution of our information booklet to hospitals.
