We are a powerful voice for pedestrians. We want to make sure that underrepresented voices, and those most affected by poor streets, can call for changes to their neighbourhoods. Our partnership work with marginalised communities shows why we need urgent action to create more inclusive streets.

Situation
Daily walks improve mental / physical health, and can tackle loneliness. But our streets have not been designed for people from all walks of life, and marginalised groups are more likely to suffer from a lack of access to benefits of walking. E.g. inaccessible public transport making it tough for disabled people to replace car journeys with walking or wheeling. The Hub will draw together evidence from multiple projects that are tackling such barriers to demonstrate what is or isn’t working.
Solution
Walking has the power to tackle the UK’s biggest social challenges; from improving health to addressing climate change. We have experience of working with marginalised communities to address barriers that prevent people from walking. But what works and what doesn’t? The next step is to evaluate our approach and impact. Through an online Impact Hub we will share best practice, explore new research, and build new partnerships; so we can create even more safer, greener, cleaner streets for all.
