Street Connect's aim is to see people breaking free and staying free from addiction via local community support. Meeting people through street & cafe outreach, our 1-2-1 support and groups help them recover from addiction and deal with the issues surrounding it (e.g. homelessness, poverty, trauma).

People who are homeless or live in areas of multiple deprivation are often driven to addiction by their circumstances and past traumas. "Two thirds of homeless people cite drug or alcohol use as a reason for first becoming homeless. Those who use drugs are seven times more likely to be homeless” Crisis report "Multiple deprivation: 4 times more likely to be a high risk drinker, 5 times low mental wellbeing, 16 times to use cocaine/heroin,15 times to have a drug misuse death." Scot Health Survey

We partner with welcoming local community groups (churches) in areas of multiple deprivation. We hold street & café outreach from those bases, offering support for issues surrounding addiction, including supported referrals to other local agencies (housing, NHS, debt, foodbanks, counselling etc) and 1-2-1 & group support for recovery across 10 recovery domains. We refer to rehab and support recovery in the community. We provide supported move-on accommodation and training in life & job skills.
