Since the 1970s there has been an average decline of 60% of wildlife populations. Rates of extinction are accelerating rapidly; once a species disappears it is gone forever. Caring for the world’s creatures was the first cause God gave humans; the cause has become more critical than it has ever been. At the same time there is increasing inequality and poverty, a symptom of the same failure to live in the world in the way God intended – people and nature living equitably and sustainably.

Founded in 1983 as a Christian conservation organization, A Rocha has been working to respond to God’s call to care for creation and inspire others to do likewise.
