Alex's Wish is a parent led charity established to conquer Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a severe & progressive muscle wasting condition, with the current life expectancy being of 25 years. Huge advances in science & medicine means a cure is no longer a pipe dream.

Situation
Our mission is to eradicate Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and to make it easier for those that are living with it. It is a devastating aggressive muscle wasting condition which leaves children paralysed by late teens. It is caused by a gene mutation. Boys are missing a protein which prevents muscles from growing. It is 100% fatal & most boys are only expected to live until their mid-twenties due to heart and respiratory complications.
Solution
We work in collaboration with other charities to identify clinical trials & research projects that have a direct route to market -so really viable projects. We are also funding solutions to make lives easier for those with the condition, like a wearable device that helps boys move and a wheelchair that meets the demand of a modern world that is affordable to all families. Our urgent need for funding is that the research landscape is developing hugely providing many opportunities to find a cure
