    Situation

We are in the midst of a housing crisis, and Newham – where we are based - has the highest rate of homelessness in the country. Here, 1 in 21 people have nowhere to call home. Rough sleeping in the borough is at an all-time high, and more people are losing their homes as a result of the rising costs of living. Newham also has high unemployment rates, so we’re dedicated to removing barriers to the job market for people who've been homeless so that independent living is achievable and sustainable.

    Solution

Our tailored, person-centred support focusses on basic needs, life skills, housing, health and wellbeing, and importantly, training, employment, move-on and sustaining long-term tenancies. Residents work with our job coach on training needs assessments, and can access varied courses including CSCS and English for Speakers of Other Languages, digital skills and our IT suite, as well as community engagement and volunteering opportunities to build or expand upon interests, activities and knowledge.
