We are looking to improve wellbeing and family community involvement in East Sussex by creating a sensory, calm outdoor area next to the PreSchool. This area will allow children (and sometimes together with parents or carers) to express their feelings and improve their mental health, all year round.

Situation
Post-Covid, the mental health and wellbeing of children has worsened. Increasing isolation, and the challenges of modern life have taken their toll on local families. This has particularly affected young children, many of whom spent a great proportion of their early life at home due to lockdown. Mayfield PreSchool has enabled children to come back together to safely learn and socialise in a nurturing place. However due to inflation and energy crises we can no longer improve the site for them.
Solution
Mayfield PreSchool offers affordable, outstanding childcare and education in the heart of the Weald. The PreSchool offers a hub at the centre of our community to help support young children and their families. The southern side of the Preschool offers space that can be developed into a calm, sensory and wellbeing space to help children as they start to thrive once more.
