3.5 million people in the UK have chronic kidney disease - Over 70,000 people in the UK are being treated for kidney failure. Kidney failure can cause exhaustion, nausea and pain, as well as anaemia which makes it hard to stay warm. Treatment is relentless, taking up many hours each week. Imagine trying to deal with all of this and holding down a job – it is often impossible. The cost of living crisis is affecting us all, but kidney patients are struggling more than many, feeling like they are being priced out of existence.
Solution
Our emergency grants support kidney patients facing immediate financial hardship, helping them through difficult times. Longer term help is given by our expert team who provide tailored guidance through the benefits system maze, helping people access what they are entitled to. Living with kidney disease can be tough, so our BACP qualified counsellors provide much needed emotional support. We know what it means to live with chronic kidney disease. We ensure that no one faces kidney disease alone.
