Situation
Tackle addresses a range of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights issues, including HIV/AIDS, access to contraception, family planning, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Child Marriage and girls’ empowerment. 70% of people living with HIV are in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) (26,8 MILLION PEOPLE) Average Child Marriage rates across SSA remains high: 41% of girls marry before reaching the age of 18.
Solution
By using an informal non-clinical setting, we effectively remove barriers of confidentiality, judgement, and cost that we know prevent young people from accessing SRHR services such as Family Planning, contraception and HST. The pitch provides a safe space for learning on SRHR and gender that is fun and accessible. Long term, the knowledge and skills that our participants gain through the programme, will help them to make informed choices to protect themselves.
