People are struggling to receive immediate medical care in an emergency across Devon, especially in the rural, isolated parts of the county. With the ambulance service in such demand, BASICS Devon can reach people day and night to give them the best chance of survival. BASICS Devon is the only voluntary service that offer this type of specialist service with higher clinical input, resulting in preventing hospital and GP admissions and readmissions.
BASICS Devon treat patients before they reach the hospital, accessing remote communities safely and quickly, in all weather and in most cases arrive before the ambulance. They give immediate access to specialist pre hospital emergency medical care at the scene. Helping to reduce response times, long term disability and save lives. The responders bring the ability to use specialist drugs for pain relief and can perform advanced surgical procedures.
