The numbers of individuals and families being referred to foodbanks for crisis food parcels in Lambeth is rapidly increasing due to the rising cost of living. Winter is an especially hard time when the additional costs of energy bills put further pressure on household incomes, with many families having to go without meals to keep their homes warm. Christmas can be a particularly bleak time, with financial worries negatively impacting relationships and levels of loneliness increasing.

Lambeth Foodbank distributes 250 food parcels in a normal week. We want to increase this to 1000 parcels per week during the Christmas period, reducing hunger across the Borough. By helping those in crisis to understand more about the support available to them through benefits, grants and community help, we can help those referred to begin to rebuild their lives and enable them to cope in a particularly challenging period.
