We work with children and their families who have experienced trauma and abuse and are living in poverty. At the heart of our work is long-term therapeutic support. We also deliver a personalised program outside of the therapy room to promote emotional recovery and help maintain safe homes.

    Situation

There has been a significant increase in referrals for children to local mental health services. 38% of these cases had their referral closed without any treatment offered. And the support offered is often short term, and inadequate when complex trauma is involved. These children are then referred to us, to avoid them slipping through the net. We deliver bespoke therapeutic support to tackle and treat childhood trauma and poverty, giving them the tools for happy and healthy lives.

    Solution

The effects of trauma are complex and long-lasting. However, we provide bespoke, long-term and panoramic support to children and their families. Central to this is therapy (e.g. counselling, dramatherapy, art therapy, music therapy), and this is enhanced and supported through a further bespoke package of care, including drop in wellbeing sessions targeted at parents, enrichment programs (e.g. bushcraft, swimming lessons) and family support such as advocacy and support in creating a safe home.
