We want to double the number of Memory Wellbeing Centres delivered as part of our Dementia Support service. Each Centre is led by 2 Admiral Nurses and a Dementia Support Worker, focusing on socialising and exceptional, empathetic care through an inclusive opportunity to stay connected and informed.

Nearly 2,000 people are estimated to be living with dementia in Winchester, with 64% of carers reporting no or not enough support to manage the changes to physical and psychological health, relationships, and lifestyle. The Dementia Support service has already provided critical help to more than 140 individuals living with dementia since October 2022. Yet with an estimated 1 in 6 people in their 80s and 1 in 3 people over 90 developing dementia, the team is struggling to meet increasing demand.

We want to increase our current fortnightly Memory Wellbeing Centres to become a weekly fixture, welcoming people living with dementia and their carers to supportive, relaxed, and nurturing sessions that can include games and social activities. There's no cost to participate and attendees don't need to register in advance or be currently within the service; there's no formal short or long-term commitment and participants can stay for as much or as little of the sessions as they would like.
