    Situation

Jaira is in one of the most remote districts of Nepal, with an incomplete road, often blocked in winter, access is challenging. The local health authorities have budgets for medicine, however they are struggling due to a lack of staff and difficult transportation. Women do not have access to basic antenatal care during pregnancy or a safe place to deliver their baby. Malnourished children are not being identified and treated.

    Solution

By working with the local government health centre our auxiliary nurses midwives (ANMs) will be able to support government staff with access to extra resources and information. Increased resources allows for community outreach work and extra capacity within the health centre. An outpost run by us means people a two hour walk from the government health centre can access support more locally.
