    Situation

There are 16 million disabled people in the UK and 11% of children are disabled (Source: UK Gov Family Resources Survey 2021 to 2022). People living with disabilities are often excluded from outdoor activities and our goal is to help more people access the benefits of the adventure of the Lake District. The Lake District Calvert Trust works to ensure that everyone, including people with limited mobility, sight loss, or intellectual disabilities, can enjoy outdoor adventures.

    Solution

From our specialist residential centre on the outskirts of Keswick, we offer individuals, families and school groups the chance to experience everything the Lake District has to offer in a safe and supportive way. Our skilled and highly trained instructors are able to take our clients sailing, canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling, horse riding, for a spin in a pony trap, walking in the fells and learning bushcraft skills, and on our high ropes adventure course or fully accessible zip wire!
