Our preschool which caters for the children of farm labourers and low-income families in Pomona is facing the challenge of limited classroom space. We have two grades sharing one classroom, which does not make for a conducive learning environment. Furthermore, the classroom is cluttered with educational materials which need to be stored separately. When it comes to break times, our dilapidated playground equipment is not safe to play on, thereby limiting the children’s sensory stimulation.

We aim to repurpose a shipping container into an additional room. This will address the critical issue of limited classroom space and enable us to separate the two grades effectively. Additionally, the container’s conversion will provide essential storage space. Educational materials can then be stored efficiently, thus creating a clutter free learning environment. Lastly, the purchase of new playground equipment will enable us to provide a safe and sensory-rich space for the children to play.
