Closing the Gender Health Gap is a global campaign aimed at empowering the most vulnerable women and girls with life saving maternal and sexual reproductive health information. It will use film and animation to raise awareness of health and gender inequality and reduce maternal and infant mortality.
Every year, millions of women and children die due to complications in childbirth and pregnancy. 99% of these deaths are in low income countries and could be avoided with access to health care, trained health workers and quality health information. In addition, women and girls suffer most from life debilitating and life threatening health issues and the impacts of poverty and poor health resulting from poor nutrition or lack of appropriate healthcare.
We are a UK charity that brings together world-class health and creative expertise, developing innovative media. The goal to reduce gender health inequality in some of the poorest countries globally has always been central to our mission. We will leverage our film archive (over 700 films in 50 languages), digital channels and local partners to reach and empower some of the most vulnerable women and girls in the world with accessible, high quality educational content in their own language.
